Corporate Responsibility
One of the main convictions of Piraeus Bank is that the development of its activities will be optimal if achieved in a socially robust environment. With the aim to operate in harmony with society, it attaches major importance to the issues of Corporate Social Responsibility, including Corporate Governance, Social work, Cultural contributions and Environmental issues.

Society
Willing to help in the elimination of social problems, Piraeus Bank has developed a firm policy consisting in a range of programs and support to organizations striving to deal with major social problems in the contemporary Greek setting.

The social policy of Piraeus Bank is three-fold, i.e. Child, Family and Health, and is denoted though specific interventions and initiatives, such as:

  • Fixed subsidizing, through the Church of Greece, of Thracian families having their third child; it is a program assisting those families that ardently keep the timeless values of the multimember family despite the adverse local conditions
  • Material and moral support to children suffering from incurable diseases, by means of grants and events, through organizations of the Civil Society
  • Financial and moral support to Detoxification Centres for young people, placing emphasis on their social inclusion. In this context, a special vocational training program for detoxified people has been run by the Bank and has helped dozens of young people so far.

Having fully embraced the principles of the UN Global Compact on the protection of human rights and applying the principle of equal opportunities to all its actions, Piraeus Bank Group opposes any discrimination, unequal treatment or violation of human rights.

Αll policies, procedures and practices of human resources are regulated through respect on human rights. It is thus ensured that there is no space for any kind of discrimination.

The Group Human Resources Division, with the full endorsement of the Senior Management, incorporated a Human Rights Policy and established a relevant employee complaint procedure in 2008, in order to systematize a specific framework for all employees in the Group. At the same time, it is our objective to contribute actively to the elimination of child and/or forced/ compulsory labour carefully monitoring and evaluating the entire range of suppliers and subcontractors.

Channels of communication for employees
Every opportunity to ensure open and bilateral communication between management and employees is utilized on a daily basis. Piraeus Bank seeks and systematically stays in touch sharing Vision and Group Values as the common denominator, while there is a common perception on the Group's business priorities and strategic growth objectives.

The Piraeus Bank Group provides multiple communication channels to its employees in an effort to ensure two-way communication at all levels. Within this framework, apart from direct and daily communication, various Internal Communication methods and tools are utilised:

Compensation and Benefits
The intention of the Piraeus Bank Group is to attract and keep the most capable employees. Compensation and benefits schemes provided to employees play a major role in achieving the above objective. The objective is to create competitive structures, as regards both to compensation and benefits, so as to ensure a high degree of coverage for the needs of employees.

Compensation and benefits schemes are assigned to employees depending on their job role, experience, abilities and their degree of responsibility.

Moreover, market developments are monitored continuously so as to maintain compensation and benefits at competitive levels, while the objective is to acknowledge and reward additional effort made by each employee. For this reason, additional, short-term or long-term, bonus schemes have been designed.
